Name: Casey Anne

Age: 23

What was your first console and first game? Casey Anne : My first console experience was my constant use of my Grandmother’s NES. I practically lived at her house growing up while my parents were working and I would spend all day helping her play the Legend of Zelda. I should note here that I use the term “helping” very loosely because I mostly just died, didn’t save and accidentally deleted her hard earned save files from time to time. Regardless, the Legend of Zelda was my first game experience and the franchise is now the nearest and dearest to my heart.

How long have you been gaming? Casey Anne : I would say since I was old enough to hold a controller and understand that the buttons made the character move. Like I said, my Grandmother used to babysit me and she was always a major gamer and I wanted to be like her.

What is your favorite game of all time? Casey Anne : That’s such a tough question! I would have to say Ocarina of Time but there are so many games I love. Final Fantasy X in particular holds a special place in my heart and I love the Bioshock series as well. Casey Anne cosplay

What platforms do you play on? I’m a Nintendo fangirl at heart so I own all of their consoles. I love my PS3 and I’m hoping to add a PS4 to my collection soon. I also have a 360 and I’m an occasional PC gamer because League of Legends!

What is your favorite genre? I don’t really have a favorite genre so much as I love a game with a good story. I absolutely love the Bioshock games for example, but if you’d asked me my thoughts on FPS games a couple years ago I would have told you I was terrible at them and avoided them at all costs. It’s really all about the story for me.

What is your biggest accomplishment in gaming? I don’t think I have a biggest gaming accomplishment. In general, I just love the feeling of seeing a game through to completion. This is particularly true when I’ve collected everything or done all the side quests or somehting. I’m definitely a fan of trophy/achievement systems for that reason.

When did you first get into cosplaying? I first got into cosplaying in 2010. Casey Anne cosplay
What is the best costume that you have done? The costume I’m most proud of is my new Final Fantasy XII, Fran cosplay. That armor is forty percent craft foam, ten percent Worbla and the rest is love, blood, sweat and tears.

What is your favorite event that you have cosplayed at? I love cosplaying at Katsucon because of the location. It’s so pretty! All that marble and that awesome little atrium and the hotel basically is the con so when you get tired, getting out of cosplay is as easy as taking an elevator ride. Cosplay can be super exhausting sometimes.

Do you have a lot of friends who you Cosplay with? Cosplay is actually the way I’ve made a lot of my friends, which is awesome because I really want to collaborate and do awesome group cosplays!

Do you have any advice for people trying to get into cosplay? Google everything! The internet can teach you so much. Cosplay, for me, is all about trial and error. There are countless ways to make anything and everything. Tutorials can be great but experimenting and using materials that you prefer can be even better. I’ve found that I default to craft foam when I’m making most things because it’s what I like to work with and work best with. You never know until you try and if you’re not sure what to try, turn to Google! I firmly believe anyone can cosplay any thing if they are willing to put in the time and effort and do the research. Is there any costume that you would like to do or have planned for the future? There are so many! It honestly changes all the time depending on what I’m playing or reading or watching. There are always a few in the back of my head that are my dream projects but what I make really depends on time, money and upcoming cons. I never know what I’ll be wearing until it’s done!

Would you ever date a gamer? Definitely! We’d already have a shared interest so that would be cool and gaming is one of my favorite hobbies.

Is there any video game character that you have a secret crush on? I’m really partial to Tidus from Final Fantasy X but Balthier from XII is awesome. Lately I’ve been playing a lot of Assassin’s Creed III though and Connor is adorable. Link never fails to be cute too but alas, none of these men are real and I don’t really have crushes on them so much as I just like them I guess.

What is the most fun experience you ever had playing a game? Well, I mentioned before that FFX is special to me and that’s mostly because I got to replay it with my little sister when she was experiencing it for the first time so it became a joint effort and a bonding experience which was really cool and lots of fun. Do you play online? If so, are you all of a sudden seeing an extreme chivalry from guy gamers even though they do not know you, or is it the opposite? The only game I’ve been playing online lately is League of Legends and I think both my Summoner Name and overall behavior are pretty gender neutral so I guess I’m not affected either way. Its always silly to me that gender is even an issue in gaming anyway. Guys play games. Girls play games. Games are cool so we all play them and its fun to play them together! Its as simple as that… in theory. Haha.

What is the hardest game you have ever played? When I was younger I remember finding Ecco the Dolphin to be the hardest game in existence and I was so sad about that because I was like eight and I love dolphins so when I picked it out at the store I thought it was going to be a magical experience, the best game ever. I should probably go back and play it again. I wonder if it’s as hard as I remember.

Is there any game that you feel particularly good at? I’m extremely good at puzzle fighter games. I love Kirby’s Avalanche in particular and any weird puzzle game based on a franchise like Pokemon Puzzle League and Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine. It’s a pretty useless talent but I am particularly good at those and its actually kind of lame because now no one will play them with me ahaha.

How many hours per week do you spend gaming? It varies, really. I spend as many as I can but you know, real life, adult responsibilities and making costumes can cut into my game time unfortunately.

Do you collect video game memorabilia?  If so what is your favorite piece? I do! I love to collect figures, statues, and anything Legend of Zelda. My prized possession though is the display stand Nintendo put out for Ocarina of Time 3D. A friend of mine that worked at Gamestop was nice enough to let me snag that and I don’t think he’ll ever understand just how much I appreciated it. I’m a little Zelda obsessed. (pic)

Thanks so much for your time and interest in me and my cosplay!
